Join us for The Books we Love: Inspire's Favourite Reads Panel Event.

With the wonderful Cara Thompson, Becky Cullen and Hannah Trevarthen, this lively panel event will delve into the books that feature on the Inspire Favourite Reads shortlist. 

The evening will also explore the books the panel personally love - the titles they return to, recommend endlessly and would place on their own favourite reads lists. Expect an entertaining and thoughtful evening full of reading inspiration.

Meet the panellists:

Becky Cullen

Dr Becky Cullen is a poet, educator and creative producer with more than 35 years' experience across the private, public and third sectors. She is Director of NTU Arts' Writing, Reading and Pleasure (WRAP) programme, where she develops and delivers initiatives celebrating writing, reading and creativity, including book clubs, writing workshops, open mic nights and publications with students. Becky also wrote and presented all 45 episodes of the Notts TV Book Club.

Cara Thompson 

Cara Thompson is a Nottingham-based writer, performer and interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans poetry, performance, textiles, sound and oral history. Nottingham's Nature Poet Laureate and Wasafiri's Writer in Residence, her work explores Caribbean-British heritage, memory and shared histories. Cara's work has been commissioned by organisations including Penguin Random House, UNESCO and Oxfam, and she won UNESCO Cities of Literature's 2021 Slamovision competition. She is also a director of Nottingham Poetry Festival.

Hannah Trevarthen 

Hannah Trevarthen is Director of Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature. Previously, she worked at English PEN and the Edinburgh International Book Festival. She also curates live literature events across the UK and serves on the advisory boards of Bad Betty Press and Oxford Brookes University Publishing. As the daughter of a librarian and granddaughter of a voracious reader, Hannah has been reaching for books from a very young age and is passionate about championing writers, readers and the power of literature to connect communities.
